1. Who we are
OXRIDGE Online Tuition (“OXRIDGE”, “we”, “us”) provides live online tuition for school students around the world. This policy covers our website oxridgeonlinetuition.com, our online portal, and the OXRIDGE Android app (package com.oxridge.portal), which is used by our administrators, teachers, students and parents.
We are responsible for the personal information described here. You can contact us at oxridgeonlinetuition@gmail.com or +91 70129 28486.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Enquiries and trial-class requests: your name, email address, phone number (optional), subject and message.
- Student registration: the student's name, date of birth (optional), school, country, class, curriculum, subjects, place/city, contact phone and — only if the student is to have their own login — an email address.
- Parent / guardian details: name, email address, mobile and WhatsApp numbers, relationship to the student, address, country and place.
- Teacher applications and profiles: name, title, gender, date of birth, email, phone numbers, qualifications, teaching experience, subjects, classes, curricula and languages, location, a short biography and an optional résumé file.
Information created when you use our services
- Account details such as your role (admin, teacher, student or parent), whether your account is active, and your password, which is stored only in hashed form — we cannot see it.
- Class information: the batches a student is enrolled in, the teacher, schedules, and attendance records (present, late, absent or excused, with any remarks).
- Records of enquiries being followed up, and registrations being approved.
Information collected automatically
- The IP address of a contact-form submission, used to prevent spam and abuse.
- Technical logs kept by our web server (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
- Website usage statistics through Google Analytics — see Cookies & analytics.
3. How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries and arrange free trial classes.
- To register, enrol and teach students, organise batches and record attendance.
- To let parents follow their children's classes and attendance, and students their own.
- To create and manage logins, including sending password set-up emails.
- To review teacher applications and manage our teaching team.
- To contact you about classes, schedules and your account by email, phone or WhatsApp.
- To keep our services secure, prevent misuse, and improve our website and app.
- To meet legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
We process this information to provide the tuition services you ask for, with your consent (for example, a parent registering a child), and for our legitimate interests in running and securing our services. We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
4. Children's information
Most of our students are under 18. Student details are normally provided by a parent or guardian, who consents to us using them to deliver tuition. A student only gets their own login if their parent or guardian provides an email address for them; otherwise the student's information is reached through the parent's account.
We collect only what we need to teach and to keep parents informed. We never show advertising to children and never sell or share children's information for marketing. Teachers can see only the students in the batches they teach, and parents can see only their own children. A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to review, correct or delete their child's information.
5. Who we share it with
- Within OXRIDGE: our administrators, and teachers for the students they teach.
- Parents and guardians: the information about the children linked to their account.
- Service providers who help us run our services, under confidentiality obligations: website and database hosting, email delivery, and Google Analytics (website only). If you install the app from Google Play, Google handles that download under its own privacy policy.
- Legal reasons: where required by law, or to protect the safety of our students, staff or others.
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
6. The OXRIDGE app
The app shows the same information as our online portal to people who already have an account. In addition:
- It stores your sign-in token, the website address and your appearance setting (light/dark) on your device, and removes the token when you sign out.
- When you sign in, your device's model name (for example “Samsung SM-A546”) is saved with that sign-in session so it can be identified and signed out.
- It sends its version number to our server to check for updates and to make sure you are using a supported version. App versions downloaded from our website can download and install updates when you choose to.
- It does not collect your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone, and it does not contain advertising or third-party analytics or tracking.
All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS).
7. Cookies & analytics
Our website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in to the portal and to protect forms from forgery. Your colour-theme choice is saved in your browser. We also use Google Analytics on our public website to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use it; Google may set its own cookies for this. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. The app does not use cookies or Google Analytics.
8. How long we keep it
- Student, parent and teacher records: while the person is with OXRIDGE, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case they return or for record-keeping — unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Enquiries that don't lead to enrolment: until they are no longer needed for follow-up, and in any case deleted on request.
- Teacher applications that are not taken forward, including résumés: deleted on request, or when no longer needed.
- Some records may be kept longer where the law requires it (for example, financial records).
9. Security
We protect personal information with encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, role-based access (each person sees only what their role allows), private storage for résumés, and sign-in tokens that are revoked when an account is switched off. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will act promptly if a problem arises.
10. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live (for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, or the UK/EU GDPR), you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you or your child;
- have it corrected or completed;
- have it deleted;
- withdraw consent you have given (this won't affect anything done before you withdrew it);
- object to or restrict certain uses, and receive a copy of your information; and
- complain to your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email oxridgeonlinetuition@gmail.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will reply within 30 days.
11. Deleting your account
You can ask us to delete your login, or your account and all its data, at any time from our account & data deletion page or by emailing us. Parents can make the request for their children.
12. International users
We teach students in many countries, and our team and service providers may process information outside your country. When this happens we take steps to keep your information protected as described in this policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed, and we will let account holders know about significant changes.
